#naturelovers

I blog for a million reasons. A friend asked me the other day if she should start a blog and a fitness business. “Only if you really plan on doing the work,” was my response. She was under the delusion that you could “blog” from an Instagram account.
We discussed the many aspects of fitness that she was knowledgeable about, and I’d mapped her entire success story out in my mind as we talked…but it all comes down to who is willing to do the work. Most people quit within 3 years when there is no exterior immediate gratification. For me, the gratification comes from within. It’s my little legacy.
I had read an article about 6 months ago in which it pointed out the benefits of blogging. The main point that was in the article was the fact that the writer/creator tends to live a more intentionallifestyle. You plan your personal time more effectively because you must if you plan on squeezing in time to create.
We love to plan moments to stop by our local pond to feed the ducks. We decided to take Blanca as an educational experience for her. She wants to chase and torture everything so I try to take her places to get her more acclimated to the universe. She growls at people until she decides if she likes them or not because she doesn’t see people often enough. The poor ducks were happy to see us all, and didn’t know to be concerned about Blanca. She wanted to squirm out of my arms and pick up a duckling like one of her baby dolls and probably slam it to the ground to be a bully. She really couldn’t stand the view of me feeding them. It was madness to her.
My hope would be that she becomes more easy going eventually.
It was great to take time for nature, for lunch together, to wear a pretty Johnny Was dress, and to let Blanca come have a nice experience.
I am trying to let her know how special she is and work on some behavioral issues because in 2 weeks we have a new rescue coming to live with us! His name is Benji and I feel in love with him at an SPCA adoption event. He has had a tragic little life until recently. He is still with his foster mom while finishing up his doctor visits. I had the little guy come over fora visit to see how the girls would do with him. Of course, Bella likes nobody really…but we just ignore her mean diva streak. Blanca LOVED Benji and blocked Bella from getting too close to Benji. We were all shocked to see her protect him from mean little Bella and we knew then that he would be welcomed into his furever home! I can’t wait to share his pictures when he comes!
Thank you so much for all who actually come to the blog and read a little! I don’t write too much because people don’t read like they used to. I, personally spend tons of time reading throughout the day but I am also guilty of watching a lot of videos so I can keep up with #The Storm #TheGreatAwakening and #Qanon in general. It’s impossible to find anyone who knows anything about what all that is, so it’s a lonely road!

SIX SHOTS: june, two thousand and fourteen

cool old car, picture of old car, Luxor Living and Style, Six Shots, blog, Texas Top Blogs,

1.  1950’s Sports Coupe

I took an early morning drive into the countryside for an appointment I had.  I saw this old girl sitting at the front of a farm house for sale, so I had to pull over.

I love old cars.  I wish I had one.  When I was a little girl, I promised myself that I would buy an old car one day.  Of course I also wanted a Shelby like Farrah Fawcett drove on the original Charlie’s Angels as well. It’s a good thing I’m not a rap star, because I’d have a garage full of cars and go broke.

It was a beautiful day for a drive through the country, a stop at a hamburger joint and time to relax and reflect.

2. Angels Hair Designs

This month, I accepted a commission to build two different web sites. I was happy to be able to integrate some of my photography and MUA skills, to use for one of the sites,  Angels Hair Designs.  Angel has been a stylist in the Houston area for years and has tons of experience, which I learned while gathering information from her for her site.  I did also use pictures Angel had for her site, and she will be adding more before and after photos on her hair design blog as well.

3. VienneMilano Italian Hosiery

I received a very fancy pair of thigh high stockings from the Italian Hosiery company, VienneMilano this month.  Since it is about 95 degrees outside, I decided that I was left with no alternative but to show off black lace, seam backed thigh highs…indoors.  The company was right when they said that these are made for comfort and to stay up.  I love them, and will be doing more VienneMilano posts in the future!

4.  Vanity

I am finally finished setting up my new vanity area and it’s my new favorite spot!  I do not know how I made it before without my own corner of the universe.  All of my makeup is so much more organized with the added storage space.  This also gives me a much better spot to do makeup when people come over to get their face done, and it’s a better ares to film makeup videos in!

5. The Sky Broke Open, The Light Shown Through.

Forgive this cell phone picture from my  Instagram  picture I had posted this month.  It was a shy scene that took my breath away.  Whenever I see the clouds with breaks of light shinig through… It reminds me of an afternoon that I was gardening years ago.

On this day, I felt eyes upon me as I was planting flowers, so I looked up to see two people staring back at me. One of the people was an angel who had a light so bright coming from his chest area, that the rays of light were cutting through the clouds. All sound ceased to exist in those moments.  I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, so I looked away to clear my mind and in a split second…they were gone.  I am a very grounded, rational person, but I knew what I had seen was real.  I ran in the house to call my dad and tell him.

Basically, now when I see clouds like this, with the breaks of light, I want people to be able to understand more clearly, what I saw that day.  For me, it’s always a fabulous reminder of that moment.  There is God, Jesus, angels, heaven and life beyond this world.  I know this because I have seen.

 6. Waste Not Want Not Creations

One of the business sites I was able to develop for a client this month, was for  Waste Not Want Not Creations.  It’s an eco-friendly accessory designer behind the brand, and I loved so many of the one of a kind pieces that she has created, including these glass hearts shown above.  I love web building when I get to be creative and help someone dive a bit deeper into the social media pool and hopefully get found by the world.  The shot above is just an ad button for her site, but you should click it and see her fun and whimsical creations from vintage or reimagined products!  I wanted to share part of what I’ve been doing all month long.

TWELVE SHOTS FROM MAUI

Maui was the most amazing place to me.  It seems eerily close to the descriptions of Heaven that people who have “died” and then been brought back to life, describe.

Beaches are wonderful and all, especially the amazing Black Beach, shown above, which was on the road to Hana.  For me, however, it was the rain forests and surrounding areas of Hana that took my breath away.

This very narrow one lane bridge on the road to Hana was just beautiful to me. It was the lush  and colorful foliage that was most amazing.  It struck me to the core, that this is what heaven will be, and probably what the earth now, was meant to be.  When you think about the nutritional value of our fruits and vegetables declining, I assume they are not studying the samples from here.  The colors of the plant life here is so bold and intense, a sure indicator of the unspoiled ground.

The colors on this thick, beautiful tree bark were astounding.

The stories of Heaven you continually hear, is that Heaven is the same as Earth, except the colors are better, more vibrant. This surely must be what is meant.

l    This shot was of the Oheo Pools which is a beautiful place to park and swim.

Charles Lindbergh had a farm and was buried here and it’s now a Memorial. it was peaceful and serene, and basically is on a cliff overlooking the ocean.

Out of the 600 pictures that we took, I’d decided on the 12 best that showed the true wonder of this magical place.  It is sometimes so hard to capture true beauty with a flat snapshot.  If you do go to Maui, you must take a tour to Hana.

While Hana was amazing, there were other great areas as well.

This picture was taken from our table on the deck of a restaurant while having lunch in LaHaina.

Another day trip we took together, was the drive up to the Haleakala National Park.

It was great to be able to stop and take our time as we drove through the rural mountain side.  The temperature changed drastically from the bottom, which was around 83 degrees, to the top, which was about 50 degrees with the wind blowing like crazy, which made it feel like 35.

As we made our way through the clouds, we eventually arrived at our final destination – over the clouds and on top of the mountain.

That is my Maui.  It was the most wonderful time I’ve ever had, and a wonderful opportunity to see beautiful land at it’s finest, un-tampered with state.
