Although mostly I have ditched the habit of rambling (well, on the fashion posts anyway) I must be lonely because I feel the need.
I feel the need to apologize for my imperfect figure, for the fact that I have red random nails, and that I should probably airbrush myself and not wear so much jewelry.
I had the weekend off and it was an emotionally trying 3 day weekend for me so on this day I threw myself together after whipping up a batch of crawfish etouffee for an early dinner. We decided to go run some errands which turned into going out for a beer on the water way, which turned into a second dinner that night with pizza which turned into going out for music and another drink….which turned into Mr Sjoberg eating AGAIN…this time a burger and fries. His eating abilities amaze me. He will deny these eating events happened but I took photos for proof. He’s not fat, he’s a machine that goes and goes and burns more calories in his sleep that I ever could on a treadmill. It’s like sleeping next to a furnace at night.
We had a random weekend night doing nothing fancy. Bad hair and chambray. I am typically NOT a chambray type but I’m in love with this top in my effort to embrace some level of casualness.
We were home by 11pm and our dogs (whose bedtime is a strick 10pm) were looking at us with “Where the hell have you been, it’s past our bedtime?” looks on their faces. I think my husband was trying to get me out of my blah mood, which is another thing I apologize for…the never smiling thing. The deal with that, is that I hate getting my photo taken. Hate. What I do like is the fashion, the artistry, the editing and it is cool if a shot comes out good, but it’s all the behind the scenes things that I like. A new friend saw my Instagram account, and immediately was left with the impression that I like myself…but the word narcissistic was used. Ugh. As makeup artists know…it’s generally about the product and the skill more than “look at me, aren’t I fabulous?”
I am done with my blue rant! This was my casual day and I wanted to share my thoughts!

YOU MAY HAVE MISSED…
1. GLAMMY GLAM VIDEO
I was so busy with transferring the blog to a new platform, that I actually missed the monthly installment of SIX SHOTS. Here I am, now catching up and this shot is from the Glammy Glam makeup video I put up on my channel! That’s such a scary thing to do, but it ended up being quite fun The link is here if you want to watch! I just purchased better lighting equipment so I can’t wait to try more videos and get better!
2. SENIOR PHOTO GLAM
I absolutely loved shooting some fun themed photos for my cousin who is a Senior in High School this year. I enjoy doing make up and it makes me happy to create art. The SENIOR GLAM PHOTO SHOOT blog post has more pic of Samantha if you want to peek! Senior photos are a very big deal to a lot of girls so I hope to carve out the time to do more!
3. DALLAS
Just kidding, but it reminds me of Dallas… the tv show! It’s actually just a shot for the blog from a fun mid afternoon date I had with my husband which involved pizza on The Woodlands Waterway! I had picked up this Ivanka Trump dress at a really great price, and yes, it’s another black dress, but I made a conscious decision to embrace all things black this year out of a need for easy daily dressing more than anything else. I will try to keep from posting any more photos of my fabulous home on the blog. (Just kidding!)
4. BIRD LOVE EAST SHORE
Just another shot from the blog post from East Shore area of The Woodlands.
5. ALMOST FALL
We do not put tons of effort into our fun little blog posts. We just have fun. I think this one turned out cool because it’s real. It’s really me. I accidentally turned into my mom …well, without the drinking problem. I wear dresses on my days off, I do my hair and makeup most days and that’s that. I look like an alien at the grocery store but that’s ok. A cute and comfy dress is my thing. More….
6. INSTAGRAM
Just a pretty shot from my Instagram account of some new Cartier perfume I got this month! I work in Fragrance and Cosmetics and I’m getting so carried away with all the different scents and notes and lovely creations each designer puts forth! More blog posts on different fragrances will be here moving forward.
KORS & MAC in PINK
It’s been a while since I’ve attempted anything resembling a fashion post lately. It feels so odd to have my husband take photos, so a lot of times I just don’t bother. On this day, however, the weather was wonderful and we were going to lunch and gave it s shot!
Last summer I did a post with a fantasy collection called Black Summer, which featured a pink Michael Kors bag. I then attempted to emulate the collection on this old post, Black Summer part 2. I loved the collection so much, I’d wanted a pink Kors ever since!
This dress, while shapeless, is so comfortable, it’s one of those easy to throw on, eat as much as you want types of items that comes in handy now and then. It doesn’t appear dated which is the kind of fashion piece I love. After a zillion years in fashion, you learn to stay away from too many high trend pieces that look dated two seasons later. If, of course, you have money to burn, then this rule of thumb would not apply to you, carry on!
This dress is made by a company called Trinity and it is 100% silk. My friend had a part time job at a Houston retail shop that was going out of business, and she called, begging me to come see what they had. Reluctant, I did find this dress, originally listed at $175, however it was marked down to $17. I treat it like a cheap moo-moo and throw it on when in a rush. But did you hear the 100% silk part? So I get to feel fancy on the cheap!
I’d initially wondered if a bright fuchsia bag was too much for a woman over 40, but I decided to just do me and let the chip fall where they may. I am a lover of pink, hear me roar. (I do have a friend that just custom ordered a fabulous pink camaro, in my heart, I wish I could be that cool but at my age, it would just appear way too kooky.)
The pink Nine West shoes with gold embellishments were already shown here and here, but they match the bag perfectly so I couldn’t resist combining, although typically I wouldn’t match a bag to a shoe.
The pink necklace I’d already owned and was a fun add-on. I truly am on a budget and I am trying hard to just use what I already own, and use things that I never usually wear. It feels like you have on something new when you pull it out from the closet and have not worn in in years!
The retro style Prada glasses are fabulous and make up for a lot, and I don’t feel so bad for having on a dress I bought for $17 if I get to dress it up with fancier things.
bag by Michael Kors, shoes Nine West, glasses Prada, bracelet Tiffany & Co, earrings Style & Co, dress by Trinity
As far as make up goes, the nails are pink in a color called La Vida Loca by Orly Polish. It’s been around a while, and it goes with a lot of the lip colors I have already, such as the MAC Pink Pigeon with the Melt Cosmetics Melted fuchsia on top.
Studies show that reds and pinks are the favorite and most attractive colors to men. My husband loves pink. My step mother recently stated that people possibly do not take me as seriously in pinks or reds. (Well, and with the blond hair color.) At this juncture, since I am not running for Congress or running the Pentagon, I figure it’s ok to just be me.
