I had a very interesting week! I went to a fun event that some bloggers were speaking at, and I got to see some people who are so motivated to succeed, happy, and relentless in their pursuit of growing their businesses!
I had some takeaways from the experience. I realized that I do not have a specific audience in mind for my blog. I blog for me. It is something I do that keeps me on a path of intentional living. However, shouldn’t I have an audience as well? Who would she be if I were to describe her? I worked for a company one time, which decided to pinpoint their typical customer. For that company…their customer ended up being someone similar to Eva Longoria, but she had 1.5 kids and an SUV. If I had to do a mental sketch of my audience, who would that be?
1. She’d be my friend.
This is complicated because my friends age in range from 20 to 65. They do not look like me, or do anything that I do. What we have in common is perspective and relative
sanity.
2. She’d love animals.
People who do not love animals are typically self centered and they suck as people in general. So my followers must love animals.
3. She would have a measure of depth.
I find myself shying away from my totally ignorant friends because they have no meaningful perspective on, well…anything. It sounds mean but some people are just
not functioning at more than average capacity for comprehension and because of that they think I’m crazy and I think they are a waste of my time. If someone says things like,
“Oh, I do not discuss politics,” or “There are many different pathways to God”… then I have learned to shut up and run. Both of these statements are usually code for…”I am an idiot who doesn’t want to exert energy with intellectual thought process.”
4. She would enjoy fashion yet isn’t mesmerized by it.
While she enjoys the occasional handbag or accessory, she doesn’t charge her credit cards up to the max to get the newest acquisitions.
My girlfriend have common sense about these things. Balance and good decisions are everything. Nobody wants to end up homeless with Chanel bags in the trunk of their car. This reminds me of a day a few years back. I was parking and stepping into the bank, and the girl in front of me had on $200 jeans, but the hood of her car was tied down with a
rope that went around the front bumper. Priorities?
5. She does or does not have kids.
It doesn’t matter, because she is still her own person with or without. She maximizes her personal time and has dreams.
6. She loves makeup and anything beauty products even if she’s too scared to use them!
Again, everyone is not the same.
7. She is busy.
We can literally not speak for 6 months, but then when we do, it’s like only a day had passed since we last saw each other. She is busy and knows that I am as well and that’s
ok because she is well adjusted and doesn’t take it personal.
8. She could stand to lose an average of 10 pounds.
She is not perfect but it’s ok…we stand together in our imperfection.
9. She cooks.
And actually, if she doesn’t ever cook, I let her know that she’s an idiot.
So as you can see, I do not come out with a shiny Eva Longoria audience as my previous employer did. My person is the everyday, higher than common, driven, sensible, fun person. She is a mixed bag but a degree of substance is the theme. A lot of my friends are guys, actually. We discuss politics, religion, #Qanon, the Deep State, finances, their women, guns, health, food and the future. They do follow politics because, well… our futures depend on what is going on. All of those fun things that most women do not care to discuss. Those are the things I love.
As far as this blog goes, I am not here to appeal to the universe. I think I am here to prove to myself that i will stick with something that encircles everything that I am and if people like it then that’s great. I get bored easily so in the past I have a tendency to move on to the next project. This blog is something that I continue despite myself. I am not only posting outfits that I get a commission on your click and I am not copying anyone else’s style. The only thing that I am selling is eyelashes but you pretty much have to click on the Bosscat Beauty link to get exposed to those.
I learned a lot more by listening to people speak at the Glam Guide Event, but I do think the point that was brought up about Who Are You Speaking To was quite valid and a point to continue to consider.
YOU MAY HAVE MISSED….
Once I saw Linda Carter as Wonder Woman on TV a zillion years ago, I had told myself that even if I could not ever become Wonder Woman, I could at least have cool red boots. My life goals are all being met, slowly but surely!
I love my red Prada bag, but have never worn much red before. However, here lately I am trying to incorporate more red accessories for a fun pop of color.
After I saw these boots and fell in love, I Googled red booties on the net, and found a lot of different styles for a myriad of prices. Check out these Gucci boots!Â
Amazing! However, the price is not in my realm of acceptability right now, so I settled for my Forever 21 find that is similar to the Steve Madden version or even Sam Edelman has a similar offering.
The bell sleeved black top is from Francescas and I had come it across it accidentally as I was stocking up on candles. The studded denim s from the now defunk Cache brand ! When I worked for them, I spent so much money on clothing, and I still have a random find here or there. The jeans are great, but I’ve had to stop myself from wearing them to the airport due to all the metal!
I met a new fashion blogger recently, and she made the comment that she wanted to be “different” than everyone else. The thing is, if every post a blogger does, only involves brands that they get paid commissions from, it becomes too inauthentic. This is why everyone appears to look the same.
For me, I get bored relatively easily. My challenge is sticking with something because I have so many interests. My blog helps me to work on things I enjoy and hone my follow through skills. It gives me an outlet for things I am interested in.
My posts might not be perfect, but that’s me. Perfectly imperfect! With fabulous boots.
PARIS.
Ever since I met my husband, he has always expressed  desire to take me to Paris.  It was never anything that was on my personal bucket list.  He suddenly decided at Christmas that we were actually going to go within a few months.
As for me, I decided to let his dream become a reality and after all…if a man is dying to take me to Paris who am I to snuff out his dream?  It seems like we could just hop on a plane with little planning since we do not have sucklings (as my brother calls them) but actually it’s a hassle when you have jobs, business, pets coming out of your ears and a home you don’t want to worry about when gone.  My brother come to babysit the girls when we’re gone and house sit as well.  (Be ware and don’t show up unannounced when we’re gone because he’s like me in that he will shoot and ask questions afterward.) As it should be. But back to the joy of travel…
Paris was not what I’d expected. Â The French were kind. The art was amazing and the Palace at Versailles was sad to me. Â Every indulgence was magnificent in it’s beauty, yet disturbing at the same time because of where the money came from origianlly to fund it. Just sayin. Â My heart is for the people of France, yes…even the ones who lived hundreds of years ago and were suppressed by a greedy governmental system with a hand in the pockets of the people who work. Â Oh wait…that sounds familiar.
Of course the Eiffel Tower is the beautiful symbol of Paris and France. Â The romantic, cultural city and country. Â While I was very glad to go and share time with my husband while he showed me around…I realized in many ways they are just like America. Tittering on the edge of financial health and worrying and wondering what the future hold for the globe.
LOVE.
He took me to Paris. Â He wanted a romantic time. Â I was that girl for once. I was the girl who never had a Valentine or a boyfriend. Â It was as if there was no one else on the planet except us. Â I had decided before we left that this was a once in a lifetime trip, so I’d wanted to be that couple in front of the Eiffel Tower, all dressed up and living the life. Â It sounds stupid, but as a person who dabbles in photography…I just had to get him all dressed up and ready for a mini Paris photo shoot. Â I figure pictures are the best souvenir.
The really funny part, is that we chose a day in which the wind was crazy and the air was bitter cold so truthfully, we could barely hold our eyes open due to the wind and icy cold tear drops flying out of our eyes. This is sort of why he has squinty, tight looking, Kenny Rogers type of eyes but that we got a halfway decent photo in at all is a miracle.
The red dress I was planning on wearing, was see thru red lace and it was so insanely cold and windy, I threw on a black feather dress that I’ve used for clients before in photo shoots, so the whole thing went pretty sadly. It’s so funny though, because in this photo, it seems as if all is perfect. Â My canon camera fell in the mud, because the wind knocked down the tripod, and I was just ready to go home with no great Eiffel Tower photo of us together…but a nice woman who was picnicking alone in the park decided to help us out and snap a photo or two.
The best thing about this photo is that he dealt with me on this terribly cold, and windy day and tried to help me get the shot I wanted. Â Is the picture perfect? Nope. Â We were too close to the Eiffel Tower. Â I’d wanted to be further away so that the entire thing would be off in the distant background. Â I didn’t want to be a whiny bitch because he had the taxi drop us off too close. I had the man put on a suit and tie and unless he’s getting married or buried he acts as if a tie is a straight jacket. Since he wore one for me, I figured I’d better shut up and hope he doesn’t begin to rip it off like the incredible hulk. We had to walk another quarter of a block in the wind just to get further away. My new red satin shoes got messed up in the mud as I ran to catch the camera that was falling to the ground. Â But we made a memory to last a lifetime and we have something to laugh about forever.
PRADA RED
The red dress I’d had created for Paris…didn’t end up in a glammy Paris blog session. Â We did, however use it immediately upon returning to U.S. soil. Â This is his favorite picture that he took and he’s very proud of his blog shoot.
You must understand my situation. Â You know how you can have a very impatient puppy that has the desire to please you, however…he’s just a hyper puppy so he can only control his rambunctiousness to a certain degree? Â Well, that’s who takes my blog photos. Â He’s a super hyper, well meaning, happy, athletic, high energy type. He’s the hare to my tortoise. So, since he did so well and enjoyed himself on the Prada Red blog session… he keeps asking when we can do more. Â That’s great! Finding time is rough. He was not jazzed about the red dress until he figured out that it was basically transparent. Well, and that it matched my new Paris Prada bag perfectly. Â And my red shoes. Â We went on to Sunday brunch afterward and I was the reddest woman in the room. Â I am glad he accepts me.
BOATING
Paris has amazing dinner boats. Â This was a last minute Paris boat ride in the cold and rain. Â It was our first night there. Â It was surreal. Â All you have to do is Google Paris photos and you can see tons of shots…many much better than mine. Â The shots I share are just ones that mean something to me…and they take me back.
THE ARTISTS AT MONTMARTRE
There were a few things on my bucket list once I realized that we were really going to Paris. Â One of them was to get an original artwork from Paris. Â As we looked around at the different art that the street artists were offering… my husband decides he wants me to sit for a portrait artist. Â I am terribly shy. Â Ugh. Â I wasn’t emotionally prepared. Â He’s very demanding, so the next thing I know, he’s discussing price with an artist and there I am. Alone. Sitting. Â For two hours. Â My husband leaves me to go have lunch and do more sightseeing in Montmartre. Â I was sitting trying to not let my lazy eye droop, because I wasn’t really wanting it documented in my art. Â I was trying to smile, yet not over smile.
I have to say…this village was my favorite part of the trip. Â It is an adorable village located at the base of the Sacre Coeur Basilica, shown below.
About the artwork above? Well, Ken thinks it’s beautiful and that it looks just like me. Â It’s framed and it’s in a corner of our living room. I say, she is beautiful and I only wish I looked like her. Â It seems the artist forgot to add wrinkles and lines. Â Either way, I got my Paris art and the memory is priceless.
CHURCH
Sacre Coeur Basilica is a Paris landmark.  It’s a church dedicated to Jesus Christ.  It’s an amazing sight from an architectural perspective.  All of that, and it just feels like a good place to go have a conversation with God.  While I am not Catholic, from a historical perspective…the building was amazing to see and experience.  Must you be in a beautiful, luxurious place for God to hear and Jesus to come? No.  Jesus can come to you when you’re in your modest garden in East Texas tending to your flowers. I support my church but I don’t believe it has to be decorated with fine art and gold to be sacred to God. But gosh this place sure was beautiful and majestic and I’m glad I got to experience it with Ken.

I look like I take myself so seriously. Â I really don’t. Â I have to explain how this post came about and you will see the humor.
I was going to Paris this month. Â I decided it would be a perfect time to get pictures done with my husband, in front of the Eiffel Tower. Â After researching, it became evident that I would need a red dress for the supposed photo opportunity, so I set out to have my own dress created. The dress is a wee bit different from my original design idea but I learned a lot! Â Grace Abbott was the seamstress I worked with to create the gown. Â I think next time, I will try to have an ultimate black dress made. That dress that makes anyone look good. One can dream.
I wasn’t counting on extreme wind and cold on the day we took time to actually do the photo session.  It was so cold and windy that you literally could barely hold your eyes open and when you did, freezing cold tears would fall out of them.  A see-thru red lace dress flapping in the wind was not going to work. Fortunately, I brought a back up. It was a 20 year old black dress that I keep around and let clients use for photo sessions.  But that’s another story and I’ll post the photos from that later….here we have the dress that I didn’t wear in Paris.  Instead, I wore her to our anniversary dinner here in Houston.
I wanted to share it on the blog, so here we are!  I am not sure what my new obsession is with red…I’ve always been a pink person.  I guess I’ve decided that red is a classic, fun, forever color pop. I recently invested in red shoes…which is hard to do!  It’s very hard to find a red shoe that is acceptable.  Red sneaker wedges, red stiletto nails, 5 million tubes of red lip stick and of course…this red Prada bag which I will use until I’m dead to justify the cost! I was lucky enough to purchase her in Paris as a souvenir. At least this is what I tell myself to help rationalize.
The red Gianni Bini heels are adorable! Â The name is Valentina, and I’m really hoping to wear them here and there, they are super comfortable.
All of my home revamps are finally finished so a lot of my spare time will be used for MUA jobs on the side of my Day Job working for Johnny Was, but I will still make time for my blog!  Why? I have worked in fashion and makeup for years. I still do freelance work here and there.  I love photography. Art. I have opinions. Strong ones from what I’m told.  Blogging is a creative outlet so that I don’t feel compressed by having to blend in with society and grind. My blog is a platform for what I am doing in life and what I aspire to do more of.
