Bye, Summer. You kicked my ass. I gained 10 pounds because it was too hot to do anything outside.  I’ve been working in my yard all week because I neglected her all summer because of you.  The A/C in my car now needs a trip to the doctor (again) because of you.

Now, that it’s a cool, crisp 89 all week, as opposed to your sorry 100 degrees or more…I will pull out my Fall Wardrobe. There will be boots, and velvet, and layers and good hair days because it’s just about impossible to have a decent hair day when it’s 100 degrees and humid outside. The struggle is real.

The post above is from about 6 weeks ago.  I didn’t post much because it was just too hot outside to deal with reminding Ken Sjoberg to focus the camera before clicking. Ugh. He goes from Alejandro to Liverpie real quick when it’s hot.

Summer made me decide to only post when it’s fun.  I was with a friend on this day, and it was so hot and steamy outside that I decided to embrace the messy bun.

As far as the light silk Johnny Was scarf…I literally feel naked without one on now.  I’ve sort of made a game out of the scarf thing at this point.  Each Johnny Was scarf is like a little piece of art. Things are looking up though because we are now moving into real Johnny Was Scarf Mode as Winter draws closer.

Let’s move forward together into Fall and Winter! Bring on the boots, scarves, jackets, fabrics with texture…and please Lawd…put the flip flops away by November. This is a non-negotiable.

KING RANCH SADDLE SHOP

I was recently thrilled to get invited to a Grand Opening Event at King Ranch Saddle Shop’s new store in River Oaks.  I had known about their original shop, located in Kingsville, Texas so I was excited about going to the Houston opening!

I was speechless upon arrival.  There were so many types of items. A lot of things struck me as items that would be perfectfor high end gift giving. Briefcases, organizers, travel bags and bow ties for men made out of feathers! Boots,

Texas style belt buckles, home decor…I was in heaven.

I’ve been thinking that I surely am in need of a new pair of western boots and I’ve just about decided whichones to get.  Actually, the page shown here has them.. the tall wine boots on their page. What do you think?

This country chic dog plates are adorable and bold and I loved them!  They have silver dog salt and pepper shakers or deer and buck models if you prefer.  The dining table below is absolute art and I could see it fitting in with a few different home decor styles. The antler arms and silver ware are pure art.  But then I love a bold look.

There were cow hide rugs, handbags, wallets, flasks, men’s clothing, women’s clothing…it was a true brand that would make JR Ewing proud. There was something for everyone there.

I took a friend with me who is completely middle of the road when it comes to, well…everything, yet she totally loved many items there.

My weakness is furniture, so my heart rate went up when I saw the eclectic statement sofas and chairs. Check out the website for furniture if that is your thing.

So if you appreciate the finer things and have a country-fabulous side of yourself, you really ought to go intotheir store in River Oaks. As we get closer to gift giving season, keep it in mind for gift giving. There is something nice there for anyone!

SIX SHOTS: January 2016

Johnny Was Highland Village, Houston stylist, Stephanie Sjoberg, Miranda Ruiz, Sierra Seja, Houston, Highland Village1.  JOHNNY  GIRLS

My new position with Johnny Was in Houston is what dominated my January.  We have a lot of new stylists, and there’s been a lot of change and learning but I have to say that we have our moments of fun! We’ve all totally fallen in love with the different lines that Johnny Was has to offer. We have all turned into “scarf people” somehow and the minute you acquire a new one, you end up finding another silk scarf to covet and desire. January was all about Johnny Was Clothing and my Johnny girls! If you’re in Highland Village, stop in as see us!

I am all about this Koi top/dress / cover up from Johnny Was, so even though it’s winter, I’d wanted to find a way to winterize and wear it now!

3.  GLAMMY BEAUTY ROOM

I totally have needed an escape pod.  My husband is a chatty Kathy so it’s been very hard to concentrate with my computer in the middle of the house for a few years.  There can be a phone to my ear but somehow words just keep coming out of his mouth.  I decided I could be married longer if I have my own oasis of peace, silence and beauty!  I’m almost finished and will of course be doing a post or video in the future from my special hiding place. My headquarters.

4.  SWEET SENSATIONS

I was referred to this Houston sugar waxing spa, through a crazy conversation with friends about Brazilian waxes, hair styles and sex. I decided to give this place a shot and was totally impressed!  Zhila makes you feel as comfortable as possible with having to strip down to nothing and be touched and probed. She doesn’t use typical wax. Her concoction is sugar based, hence the name…Sweet Sensations. She offers other services as well, so if you’re in the Houston area, check it out!

5.  JOHNNY WAS

I wasn’t able to pump out tons of fashion posts this month, but I love this shot from a Johnny Was post!  The scarf thing is becoming an addiction. The dress is hard to shoot due to the lines but we tried!  This is one of those dresses that people stop and ask about where ever I go.

6.  HOUSTON on INSTAGRAM

Houston is getting crowded. When it rains, everyone’s driving is not stellar.  I am trying to relax and enjoy my commute, but on this day, I’d been at a complete standstill, so was able to stop and admire the beauty of Houston proper. Of course I had to Instagram it. A 29 mile drive turned into a 2 hour commute home. Ugh.
