SIX SHOTS: JANUARY 2015

golden nugget casino, decor, Lake Charles,

1.  January 1st

This light fixture (one of many in this style) that is at The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles was inspiring to me.  I love all things decor and design and I was moved by the artistry.  We were there for a quick trip at the first of the month, and I will be going back soon to do a blog post! Well, and possibly some over eating and mayhem!

2. Lake Charles

We did a blog post from Lake Charles on a winter day this past month.  I love this shot my husband took.  It was a fun day even though it was a very cold and dreary. While I do see that I need to start paying more attention to the back of my hair, it was a road trip day and an awesome memory!

3.  FAITH

January started off fabulous, and ended up kind of rocky.  Life is not always fair and basically, if you didn’t know…people suck.  My faith in God and the Bigger Picture keeps me going, so when I came across this large great metal cross which I hung on the brick wall by our front door, I thought it would be a perfect reminder of  the bigger picture.  I love that it’s hanging on the front wall, and it gives me a smile every time I go in and out of the house.  I believe.  I have hope and faith.  My home is my happy place.

4.  Hello Kitty Glitter Nails

Every morning, the thing that helps me get up is my morning routine.  There’s comfort in knowing that a hot cup of coffee in my favorite Hello Kitty mug will be my happy place as I let the dogs out, let the dogs in, get their treat, and sit with my coffee as I gather up the inertia to start my beauty routine and get out the door.  Hello Kitty cracks me up and makes me happy on the inside. She always has.  I find happiness in peaceful moments and the little things.  In the morning, I like my quiet time.  As for the nails, I’ve gotten a wee but crazy with the glitter powder.  Considering that I wear a lot of black, the nails don’t look too insane.  I look like a total kooky character with my morning coffee and the nails, so I thought it was a great Saturday morning shot for Instagram!

5. MY HURR

I got a hair cut from my friend Angel and posted a quick picture on Instagram.  She’s a really fun lady and knows everything there is to know about hair.  She understands that everyone can’t have the same hair cut.  Your head shape, hair texture, face shape and thickness of hair all play a part in how a cut will turn out.  If you live in Houston, you should call  her for a consultation if you’re in that place where it’s time to change hairdressers! Click her name above and it will take you to her site!

6. VIAGRA SALES WOMAN

This is a fuzzy cell phone picture that I took while that annoying Viagra commercial came on t.v. for the millionth time.  I can’t figure out why they put these types of women on Viagra commercials. ( Natural, seasoned by time.) I am positive that tons of research is done, when attempting to decide on what type of woman is needed to sell Viagra.

My husband laughed when I commented that this spokesperson has “slutty” eyebrows.  I then checked with ladies I knew, and everyone agrees…this is a slutty eyebrow.

If we could see the research, they chose a woman clearly over 40, in shape, but loose fitting clothing, good looking, and speaking suggestively, yet still maintaining a somewhat professional demeanor.  I believe the loose clothing on a fit woman, makes a man’s mind wander more than a half naked woman. Slutty eyebrows are a necessity.  I believe they send an unspoken message. The make up isn’t perfect.  Hair is messy.  So she either just got out of bed, or is about to go to bed, or wants to go to bed…if only her man would pop a Viagra!  Too funny.

On a personal note, Viagra is not needed in my house at this juncture.  Just sayin. I was married before, so I chose very carefully this time.

6. Just Business

These are our favorite shots of the month!  Click on any of them in order to link to the related site, however, the Just Business one above links to my Instagram Account! I was resistant to Instagram at first, always trying to be a rebel, but I actually find it great fun to see other people’s up to the minute post sniplets. As for me, it’s great because sometimes a picture doesn’t make it to the blog and it’s more Instagram-appropriate and immediate!

A BOUDOIR EVENT

A BOUDOIR EVENT

Luxor Living and Style, Makeup Artist in The Woodlands, hair by Crystal Trevino, Texas senior photography, boudoir, Klein High, The Woodlands High, MUA, Houston Top Stylist, Top Blog, Luxor, fashion, glam, glammy, glamour shots

Once upon a time, I was on a plane to Michigan with some coworkers. The

male coworker sitting next to me was thumbing through a Maxim magazine, looking at suggestive, sexy photos of Gina Lee Nolan.  He bumped my shoulder, so I would look over, and he said,” I bet you wish you looked like this,” shoving the magazine in my face, at which point I quipped…”I bet she wishes that she looked like this.”

I’ve been long aware of the power of visual stimulation on men.  Most men do not have any realization of what exactly goes into the creating of modern visual media, and how the images they are looking at, and that we all get crammed in our faces on a daily basis…are truly created from an original basic image, and then severely enhanced, a lot like cartoons when over done.

It is for this reason, that I love taking a woman and creating her very own glamour shoot. Boudoir. Fashion. Whatever. I prefer to keep images as pure as possible.  You would want to show a friend your photo and NOT have them say, “Is this YOU?”  I like to keep it real.

On this day, my friend Crystal had agreed to do a Valentine’s Glamour Shoot for whosoever desired to sign up.  Every single female I know wants to do it.  They want to be forever immortalized for their Valentine…but most are too scared.

The girls wanted to be glammed up for the Valentine in their lives, and I'm sharing just a few of the shots here. What I enjoy is showing the men in their lives, how immortal the woman in their life could be if only there was a daily glam squad available. It helps to dispel the myths that the media has created. People, we have an unrealistic expectation of women due to media which glorifies silicone, capped teeth, hair extensions and photo shop. It's a pretend world that doesn't exist. Real people do have armpit wrinkles, neck lines and crows feet when they smile. That being said, I do like to use angles, lighting and professional makeup application, to help people look great in their photos. I like to show women that they are powerful, worthy, beautiful and exceptional in their own way. I work in cosmetics, a world where I've seen more than one man drag his wife to the cosmetics counter, asking for her to be made to look "like the women in the ads." ( Yes that's rude as hell.) Men want the fantasy, so give it to them every once in a while, or give it to yourself.

SIX SHOTS: MARCH 2013

SIX SHOTS

march, two thousand  thirteen

Old Town Spring

  1.  alice in wonderland

This was an amazing courtyard I fell in love with in Old Town Spring and used in the blog post LACE WITH LACE WITH LACE.  I live just a few miles away and plan to go back often !

birdhouse ideas

  2.  cozy gothic bird home

I love plants and flowers…and of course any type of birdie homes!  I happened upon this on in Old Town Spring as well and showed in the LACE WITH LACE WITH LACE  post as well. I shared it here in case you missed it!

  3. a very special 12th birthday

My little heart.  I guess I am an annoying pet person who thinks my dog is incredibly special! I apologize. I’ve just decided to make her as happy and feel a special as possible, and I did so with a pink cupcake on this day! She turned 12 and was so happy to get this special treat!

  4.  me me me

It’s worth mentioning, that it’s very nerve racking to be posting photos of your grill on the Internet that are seen by people all over the world.  There is a blurry line between modesty and self promotion in the world of blogging. My husband (see  #6) takes the pictures of me and I take all the pictures of everything else! It’s hard, because I am just a regular person. I get frustrated sometimes and try to explain to him that I am NOT Cindy Crawford, therefore I need good angles and lighting! It’s fun when his photos actually turn out, and I used this one in the SUPER HAIR CARE FIND guest blog on Ashley Elizabeth’s site! Must we be young and thin and perfect to have a good blog? I surely hope not!

5.  doggy boudoir

These are my dirty rotten scoundrels looking perfectly fancy on my animal print chaise. They were eyeballing us carefully before we left the house, I suppose to figure out if they were invited or not.  I happened to have camera in hand, and snapped a lovely picture. If anything about you is a photographer at heart…then you know what it’s like to snap a forever-type of pic. This was that.  A perfect moment.

Ken Sjoberg, KS TENNIS USA, tennis in the woodlands

6.  mi corazon

When I met him, and then found out that he played tennis, I thought that was a really good sign.  It tells a lot about a person’s life if they have priorities that include health, fitness and sports.  My husband started in tennis as a young child, and he enjoys teaching little children as well as adults, the joy of his sport. We all have our thing. Tennis is his. I’ve been taking action shots of him this week to use for our KS TENNIS website.  Although I love those professional shots in which the yellow ball is a blur across the picture, this one speaks to me. It is real and deep and shows his love for the game.

Those are my top Six Shots for March, 2013.

THE GIFT

THE Gift THAT

GIVES BACK

I will begin by saying that my husband is pestering me to write this particular post.  while I do not wish to bore anyone with my animal stories, he also made the point that Jazzy is in my heart and that I should share that with people. I will make it brief!

Jazmine Lee Dawn, (her full birth name) turned 12.  As she gets into her last years, I appreciate her more and more.  Because of this, we are starting to do a lot more to make her happy. There are more walks and outings, of course when she was thinner, there were many more outings in her “Jazzy Purse” to the malls and movies.  There was even a visit to Ihop in which she sat quietly in her Jazzy Purse, waiting for random french fries to come her way.

She is quiet, patient, polite and low maintenance. I adopted her 12 years ago for $86 and the gift of a home, that I gave to her, has returned to me in unconditional love and companionship. She was there to watch me cry during hard times, when no one else was there.

So yes, I bought my pet a cupcake and candles and made a special point to let her know it was for her!  She was so excited once she tasted the icing!  Jazzy has been on a diet lately so she has felt deprived!

Again I ask, if you are considering the acquisition of a new pet, please, please, please check out your local shelters and rescues before you do.  There are amazing full breed pets there that humans were too irresponsible to keep.

Jazzy has been the one perfect thing in my life and the best $86 I ever spent!

    Happy Birthday, Jazzy!

ANIMAL PRINT & A POP

I’ve tried to fight my love for animal print for years now but I give up and give in. My new hope is to modernize the classic staple with pops of colors and textures to help it be the classic it was meant to be and not cheesy as it can be if not done right!

My inspiration board makes me want to go organize my closet and revamp my wardrobe!  Doing the board was fun and it reminded me of the many, many retail windows I’ve designed over the years which was always more fun when you had to make up your own looks because inventory was completely irrelevant from store to store!
