Yes, I am aware that it’s winter. However, winter in Texas is not like winter in New York. Because of our typically mild winters, I’ve become somewhat accustomed to doing what I want where fashion is involved.
While I realize that this adorable Koi poncho is intended for Caribbean vacations on your yacht… I don’t have a yacht and this has been in my closet all month and my friends challenged me saying that I couldn’t possibly winterize it enough to get away with wearing it now. In public.
While I surely do plan on wearing it on a hot summer day, as the wind blows it fabulously around my body, with a bikini underneath, the matching scarf in my hair and strappy gold heels on… for now, this will work. Hold me to it, I will do a post like that this summer and reuse this Koi dress. Poncho. Cover up. This thing can be whatever you want it to be.
We’ve been a few times and absolutely love it. There are a zillion restaurants, live music, concerts, a fabulous pool with swim up bar, the rooms are amazing and the decor is swanky. The best part is that it’s close to home so you could go for a day trip if you live in Houston, but it’s so much nicer to be able to stay up late and crash in your room whenever you want, and then drive home refreshed.
In a note of total honesty, and friend and I were discussing how great the room designs are…and she mentioned, “Where the hell is the baby Keurig coffee machine?” I have to say…that was a valid point, but it was perfection other than that.
My husband is a social butterfly, so we’ve run into people that he knows every time we’ve gone, stayed up too late and eaten too much. As it should be.
We’ve eaten at a lot of the restaurants there, and the food and service is always great. Actually, hats off to the girls at the Claim Jumper because they were all so friendly and nice! The list to their restaurants is below!
The bands at the Blue Martini are always great and one night we saw Swagger Austin and had a total blast. There was even dancing involved. Swagger is a Top 40 Cover band and so by default, every song is a hit. As a sidebar – and this is funny. During the show I recall thinking, “Wow, cool band…and the lead singer is cute but not THAT cute.” A few hours after the show, we ran into Olivia and I was totally shocked to see that see had an absolutely BEAUTIFUL face! We talked for a bit, and I told her how beautiful she was and we decided that it was the lighting that was messing her up on stage! With lighting coming from the top and the bottom instead of straight on… no one is going to look good. Beautiful and nice girl and it made us love the band even more. I’d love to do their photos because you can’t see how wonderful she is in any of their promos. We chat with one of the other members as well, and they are a pretty neat group of people. I’m studying up on my poker so I can sit in and be better schooled at the tables because I am not one of those super lucky people that will ever walk up to a slot machine and win $5,000. It’s just not in me, so I feel poker might be less discriminating. For me, it’s not so much about the gambling anyway, but just about forcing myself to relax.
If you have a yacht (or a pontoon, which is all I aspire to) there is a boat dock in the back. Tilman’s was parked in the back when we were there and I must say…I never felt I needed a yacht before, but after seeing this one…maybe I do need one after all.
My girlfriends have planned a trip together in August, which will be a total blast because everyone loves to eat, drink, dance, make fun of each other (mainly of me) and eat some more.

I just spent two hours at Legacy Prep School in The Woodlands with KS Tennis since it was the last day of the season. Kids are adorable but have ZERO filter, so these are the questions I was asked;
Kids: Are you rich?
Me: No.
Kids: Are you sure? You look rich.
Me: Pretty sure. I am wearing Chanel lipstick in “Arthur”…so I guess I look rich.
Kids: Do you have kids?
Me: No.
Kids: Why not?
Me: Because Coach Ken is too old.
Kids: But he’s really good with small kids!
Me: Well then if someone leaves one on our doorstep, I guess we’ll keep it .
……..so then these kids start explaining how to foster babies and sometimes you get to keep them! I’m good…I promise!

6. DEL FRISCOS GRILL / HUGHES LANDING
We were excited to be invited to a VIP party at the new Del Frisco’s Grill in The Woodlands last week! The views are amazing, the food is top notch and we had a really, really good time. The restaurant design is fantastic and it’s a very romantic, yet industrial look and feel. I will be doing a blog posting on the new Hughes Landing area of The Woodlands very soon with more photos.
My dad met and began dating a woman years ago that was always trying out new things. She would read and educate herself on different home remedies and other things. Once, she had peppermint bubble bath of some sort years ago, so I tried it out after she raved about how wonderful it was. I tried it, and the peppermint bath was actually refreshing.
