LOW KEY in LAS VEGAS

We had to go to Las Vegas for a work related trip for one full week.  Everything work-related fell through, so that left us with tickets and a hotel paid for which left us no alternative but to go ahead with the trip and make the most of it!

We decided to enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds Las Vegas for the biggest portion of the trip.  Every day we had planned a road trip of some sort.  One day we drove to the Grand Canyon, which was breath taking.  We both had been before, but not together.

It sounds so simple, but to share and experience the wonder and beauty of God’s amazing world together with another person, created memories to cherish forever.  Seeing the beautiful landscapes was so much more fulfilling than seeing the man made fakery of the strip area.

I won’t place a million boring pictures on this post.  I will, however, say that the next time you go to Las Vegas, you should be sure to venture out to Hoover Dam and the Pat Tillman Bridge as well as the Grand Canyon.

I can say, that the bus that tours to the Grand Canyon is probably more enjoyable than being in the middle of nowhere in a rental car on rough roads in the dark!  (We had hit the Grand Canyon at sunset. While it was romantic, it made for a stressful drive back!)

We went to different hotels, including The Cosmopolitan, seen above, and I wouldn’t mind staying there in the future!  We did manage to see a show or two, but we didn’t stay out late or do too much mingling with the masses.

One of the absolute funniest things we saw was this statue of “Buck & Winnie” and their dog “Chip” (get it?) at one of the entrances to Harrah’s Casino.

It made no sense to us that this crazy looking statue was sitting in the otherwise classy, nice entry area.

I was laughing because the man reminds me of my husband in the face (+20 years and minus the cash) and my husband was laughing because the woman was a funny version of me (in his twisted mind and +20 years!)

When we finally stopped laughing at ourselves, we had a stranger snap pictures of us in front of it and for his birthday, I had a picture of Buck & Winnie Greenback placed on his cake as a joke!

SIDEBAR:  This is too funny not to mention, but when I brought in a picture of Buck & Winnie to the bakery to have added to his cake…the bakery ladies asked if it was me in the picture!?!  Blindsided by the question, I stated “No! It’s a photo of a funny statue in Las Vegas.”  At which point they asked, “Yes, but is the statue of you?”

     What? Really? Wow!  Too funny.

We also went to various tennis clubs throughout the burbs such as the breathtaking Red Rock Country Club.   My husband has his own tennis operation in Houston, KS TENNIS,  and he loves all things tennis!

Of course, he also loves bunnies and took this adorable picture at Red Rock!

There are beautiful things in Nevada to see and enjoy and we had a wonderful, low-key vacation while there.
