MY ROOM AND BATH TOUR

LUXOR ROOM and BATH TOUR
Fun decor is one of my passions so after having the opportunity to recreate our bedroom, I decided on dark and romantic black Martha Stewart paint, and did the connecting bathroom as well! It’s a fun, dark and cozy room!   Although some of the photos from my bedroom and bath Makeover have been published here on the site before, I’m having fun branching out on my Youtube channel, so I decided to add a video tour as well!

After discovering that a large percentage of people do not actually read, and only look at photos, I ventured into videos specifically for those friends, and the other video blog was a success, so I will try to feed more in here and there.

This was just a quickie, nothing fancy…but it’s actually fun once you’ve finished up with the actual work involved.  It’s like throwing bits and pieces of yourself out into the universe, come what may.  It’s scary, risky, fun.  It’s like participating not bystanding.

I still love my website and writing…especially on relationship fodder!  I feel like there is something to be learned from everyone’s mistakes and successes and that we should explore and share.  That holds true of not just decor ideas and cosmetics finds!  However, I will continue to add more videos for the many people who prefer not to be burdened with the stress they may feel from having to read!  ( Do you believe I even had a friend inform me that I TALK too much in this video???) It seems some people prefer to just see videos with a caption here or there and no words!  Due to that feedback, I will a;so try to keep all future videos under 6 minutes when possible!

A MINT INTERIOR

A MINT INTERIOR

I am so excited to show off somebody else’shard work and creative decor! My sister-in-law has created the most fabulous nest so I crept through the house taking random shots of some of the creative elements that make me want to move in! (Or at the least, go back home to rework some areas in need at my own place!) It’s veryinspiring when you see someone else’s cool spaces.

The wall colors are a soft minty green.  When the browns and neutrals are mixed in, it createswarmth against the crisp and fresh backdrop.

The rhinestone candle buttons and tassels add a designer touch and an extra edge to the look.

Simple and sleek greenery in lit nooks up close to the ceiling or in art nooks help to highlight the architecture.
The sitting area off to the side of the living room is cozy.  The animal print wall art is great fabric that she created and covered herself, and then edged with decorative roping.

I must say, when we came over, there was no big plan to do a blog, and she surely didn’t think her bedroom would be seen in Russia or Australia…yet here it is!  Too perfect to be left unseen, I just had to show off this room and the striped walls!  The stripes carry through on every wall and it looks amazing!
There are a couple of places where there are wall scripts.  This one over the front door adds a warm and real touch.

These are all fabulous home decor ideas and I hope it provides some inspiration!

My latest fashion post also includes more – yes, MORE animal print and you can see it here on Ashley Elizabeth’s site!

GUEST BEDROOM RE-VAMP

Forcing myself to get this bedroom painted was very, very hard.    I do not love the furniture in this room, therefore I do not love the room.  (There is another set of furniture that I want moved to this room which is better, prettier, more wonderful…but someone has an emotional attachment to the not so wonderful set, so here it sits. For now.

Finally realizing that I was only hurting myself by allowing the abandoned bedroom to sit, with unpainted walls and no care…I broke down and gave it a little love.

I’ve got to show the before picture. Although I tried to fill it up and hang something here or there, it just really was still a heartless box.

For the spare room, I finally decided on the same color, Molasses, which I used in the home office which is just down the hall.  I figured this made for some continuity. (See Home Office Re-Vamp Post.)

I added a couple of animal print hat boxes that I’d already had to store items in my closet, and the molasses wall paint really seemed to add a wonderful backdrop to showcase the various items and artwork I’d already had on display.

Most everything means something.   My love of birds, I suppose was inherited from my mom, and most bird things here had been hers.  Porcelain birds are very “old lady” of that I am aware, but I love them!

The tiny porcelain bell was a gift from my mom when I was about 10 years old.  I figured that since it was technically a guest room…it might be a nice touch! A service bell…get it?

I had a spare curtain, so decided to make headboard canopy out of it for fun.

This chair is extremely comfortable and I’d been deciding on what to reupholster him with, but now he blends so much better!

The animal print stool was a gift from a friend last Christmas and I thought a fun touch!

The dresser is littered with more porcelain birds, pictures, a box of photo albums and a heavy iron cross that I have not yet decided where it will go.

I probably will add a shelf somewhere in the future to put these birds on.

So this was my quick spare bedroom re-vamp which I feel connects the room to the rest of the house and helps the flow!

Up next, the star attraction…the Master Bedroom Re-Vamp !  It’s never been upgraded because I forced myself to save that for last after completing the rest.  We decided on a color scheme last night so hopefully it will be completed by the end of December if not sooner, which was my initial goal!

Let me know what you think or send in your re-vamps!
