I never go to concerts. I am only interested in seeing people I absolutely love and who I think have tons of talent. Two days before Journey and Def Leppard came to town, I decided to buy tickets. Somehow, for there were two great seats left at the last minute at Toyota Center.

We both love Journey (…and yes, Steve Perry is fabulous but he left and they found Arnel Pineda years ago and I wanted to go respect his Journey.) I think it’s so cool that they picked him. His journey from poverty is amazing and you should really watch the documentary about him.)

The day of the concert, it’s raining cats and dogs, humid as hell and hot and sticky. I did not feel like dealing with hair. A fun, crazy hat was the answer. That’s kind of the backstory of this post. I do not typically walk around in tiny shorts and tanks, but it was a concert after all.

The concert was September 3rd, and we made a memory together! Def Leppard was there as well which was another group that I listened to way too much back in the day.  Actually, when I work out, they are in my playlist! I remember when all of their great songs came out, I was in high school. High school generally sucks for a lot of kids and their music is their escape. Journey made you always think of finding love one day once you’re able to escape the confines of your parent’s home and High School life in which it’s really hard to learn much of anything.

Here it is a zillion years later, and everything is perfect. I was a rebel then, a rebel still but I can conform enough to build a life along within the masses. The music takes you back. When you go back, you think of the journey you’ve taken and what it took to get you where you are or are not.  And while it was nice to go backwards, it’s even nicer to keep moving forward.

WINTER PINK

c600x600

I recently ran into the absolute most lovely pink coat ever made, by designer Ted Baker.  I then decided to make the color pink my winter focus “pop” color!  Fashion tells us we have to have a velvet berry lip this winter.  A dark lip does not look great on everyone.  It can be harsh on some.  Fabulous on others.  If my lips are too dark, I look like a drag queen. (Even more than I usually do.)

I decided to make Pink Bon Bon my winter pink lip color and Orly nail polish in Pink Neon – which matched perfectly, the main nail color.  With a pink winter accessory here or there, I’m feeling I should blend easily into winter and not look summer-ish.

Pink rocks.  Don’t get me wrong, if I were a fabulous raven haired Latina with a golden tan, I would love to get serious about reds. However, with my coloring, I feel like too much of a cartoon in red. It’s so bold with my skin and hair. One day, when I am a brunette, I will embrace reds more often. Fashion is being creative, not necessarily following every one else.   Being a successful fashion rebel would require looking good in the process of said rebellion. Winter pink fashion is fun!

I’m off today to find some pink tint aviators and a pink winter accessory here or there, and march onward into winter with my pinkness in tow.
