Click the photo above to check out my new Beauty Room!  I had a chandelier put in the room, and I absolutely love this room now!  Actually, we all do.  It’s a cozy gathering place which was not what I’d intended.  I’m still working on organizing some drawers and still getting rid of things, but it’s a great place to run my empire! (By empire, I actually mean my life.)

2.  PAULIE’S

I rarely take a proper lunch break when I’m at work.  On this one rare day,  I stopped in for a cappacino and cookie break at Paulie’s in Houston.  It was the most amazing coffee in Houston. Ever. Just saying. The adult food looks amazing as well, however the last four times I’ve been in, I’ve only been buying cookies as gifts or for events at work.

3.  EASTER EGGS

I was so thrilled to find a bird’s nest in my back yard.  The thrill was ruined just two days later, when my dogs had to chase off a cat that was in the middle of stealing one of the eggs from the nest.  Nature can be so cruel.  I carefully picked up the damaged egg, patched it and attempted to incubate it for a week before I was sure it was ruined and lifeless.  I had incubated tons of eggs in the past, but nothing so small and fragile as Dove eggs.  Doves are known as sloppy nest makers and honestly it was in a terrible location. Obviously the top of a fence is where any smart cat would sit to torture the dogs below. But the beauty and joy I felt when I first discovered the nest leaves me hopeful that other birds in the area will be more successful in the future here.  I would love to be able to photograph brand new life!

4.  BIRD HOME AVENUE

Every thing isn’t about makeup and fashion to me…I love gardening and anything to do with nature as well.  It’s a bit old lady I suppose, but I adore bird houses and pick up a few every year to tuck here and there throughout the yard in hopes that it draws more birds my way!  Nothing is better than hearing chirps in the morning!

Galveston Beach, resting bitch faces, dogs, beach day,

5.  GALVESTON DAY TRIP

While Galveston Beach is not exactly The Bahamas, it’s still a beach.   It’s nice to go sit and hear the waves crash in, feel the wind blow and of course…take the dogs.  I do this at least once a year.  It was great because it wasn’t too hot yet.  At one point, I suddenly look down, and see that Jazzy has scribbled her name in the sand!  Amazing girl! Blanca and Bella were not crazy about having other people on the beach, as you can see in their resting bitch face shot.  They were also not thrilled with the concept of sand in their toes, so mainly they sat in the lawn chair and observed the passers by.

Easter

This article is about the Christian and cultural festival. For other uses, seeEaster,[nb 1] also called Pascha[nb 2] or Resurrection Sunday,[nb 3] is a festival and holiday celebrating theresurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.[5][6] It is the culmination of the Passion of Christ, preceded by Lent (or Great Lent), a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance.

The week before Easter is called Holy Week, and it contains the days of the Easter Triduum, including Maundy Thursday, commemorating the Maundy and Last Supper,[7][8] as well as Good Friday, commemorating thecrucifixion and death of Jesus.[9] In western Christianity, Eastertide, the Easter Season, begins on Easter Sunday and lasts seven weeks, ending with the coming of the fiftieth day, Pentecost Sunday. In Orthodoxy, the season of Pascha begins on Pascha and ends with the coming of the fortieth day, the Feast of the Ascension.

Easter and the holidays that are related to it are moveable feasts which do not fall on a fixed date in the Gregorianor Julian calendars which follow only the cycle of the sun; rather, its date is determined on a lunisolar calendarsimilar to the Hebrew calendar. The First Council of Nicaea (325) established two rules, independence of the Jewish calendar and worldwide uniformity, which were the only rules for Easter explicitly laid down by the council. No details for the computation were specified; these were worked out in practice, a process that took centuries and generated a number of controversies. It has come to be the first Sunday after the ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or soonest after 21 March,[10] but calculations vary in East and West.

Easter is linked to the Jewish Passover by much of its symbolism, as well as by its position in the calendar. In many languages, the words for “Easter” and “Passover” are identical or very similar.[11] Easter customs vary across theChristian world, and include sunrise services, exclaiming the Paschal greeting, clipping the church,[12] and decorating Easter eggs, a symbol of the empty tomb.[13][14][15] The Easter lily, a symbol of the resurrection,[16][17]traditionally decorates the chancel area of churches on this day and for the rest of Eastertide.[18] Additional customs that have become associated with Easter and are observed by both Christians and some non-Christians include egg hunting, the Easter Bunny, and Easter parades.[19][20][21] There are also various traditional Easter foodsthat vary regionally.

SIX SHOTS: FEBRUARY 2016

Stephanie Dawn Sjoberg, top Houston blogs, Houston bloggers, coton de telear, , baked blush, adopt, #adoptdontshop, platinum, cosmetics, beauty blogger, Houston Beauty blogger, makeup artists in Houston,

  1.  MEASURABLE DIFFERENCE BAKED BLUSH & BLANCA

I recently had an opportunity to try Measurable Difference Baked Face Blush.  It’s great and natural looking, but it’s super hard to photograph blush on a pale person!  I was taking photos in an attempt to show off the natural rose colored blush, but Blanca, my new adopted family member was determined to play and get attention. We snapped a picture and I love it.  You can see the blush without it being too much, and Blanca is the most protective, fun, loving little fur ball! You can check out all the beauty products at chrislie.com !

The Woodlands, Texas, Market Street,

2.  THE WOODLANDS

The Woodlands, Texas is home.   It’s my stomping ground.  My neighborhood.  I stopped to snap this cell phone pic one night last month because the sky was creepy and haunting. Love.

3.  RODEO

Occasionally, I still have time to fashion blog.  I chose the fun top from Johnny Was above, because it’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo time in Houston now, and that’s when we all get back in touch with our cowgirl side.  The plaid, embroidered button up is fun and real at the same time.  In fact, I titled the post “Real” because it’s true.  I am a Texas girl.  For a bleached blonde with fake lashes, I am real. I can shoot a gun, catch a fish, I would love to go camping – but no one will take me, I adore animals and would love nothing more to live out in the middle of nowhere and have chickens.  I probably shouldn’t wear denim that short at my advanced age, but the Texas in me really doesn’t give a damn. Just sayin.

4.  HIGHLAND VILLAGE

This is my Houston work view every day, and I absolutely adore my Houston palm trees.  I’ve always planted tons of tropicals and palms in my yards along life’s way, and they just make my soul happy.  There’s quite a few pictures in my cell of this same view because I always try to catch it on pretty days.

5.  VALENTINE’S PARTY

We decided to have a Valentine’s  themed event at work for our clients and of course that included a photo booth!  And cupcakes. And chocolate. We took a bunch of goofy shots after it was over so I’d wanted to show off some of our stylists from Johnny Was Houston!  I totally love my job and that’s been something I’ve not been able to say for years.  No one is outright insane, or terribly hard to deal with. That’s rare in any work environment. I’m trying to think if I know of anyone that’s totally happy with their work environment. If you have that, enjoy it!

Adopt don't shop, pet adoption, Luxor Living and Style, Houston pets,

6.  PET HOARDER

I adopted Blanca this month.  It’s totally changed the home life to have an extra face staring at you at all times.  Having needs and wants.  To be honest, I adopted her for Bella because Jazzy is not doing well and we know we won’t have her much longer.  We knew Jazzy was easy going enough to enjoy having an extra soul around, but that it would take some psychology to get Bella to adjust!  It’s funny because they are frenemies but Bella is warming up!  If you’re nice to Blanca, Bella gives you the stink eye! If you brush our Blanca’s snow white locks, there is Bella wanting her hair brushed as well.  This is super funny because she has no hair but the look on her face is priceless!  Three dogs is way more than two, for sure. Blanca needed a home, and her foster mom had trouble finding a family for her.  We met by chance, within a week of me deciding it was time to adopt again.  Adopting a pet that is close to a year old, has so many advantages.  I do not adore having to go through that puppy stage!  Blanca was already potty trained so that’s always a plus.  Adopting is a great way to go because there are so many pets out there needing a home.  You say you just have to have a full breed? No worries…there are tons of ignorant people out there who felt the same way, paid top dollar and then bailed on the upkeep of a pet after 6 months or a year, and there’s tons of rescue groups out there searching for homes for those same full breed dogs. Bella was a breeder dog, who was taken to a shelter to be put to sleep, once her owner had gotten enough babies out of her.  Blanca is a Coton de Telear, which is pretty fancy, and I only came across her by accident.  She has hair as opposed to fur and really doesn’t shed at all, despite her furry look.  Jazzy is my prized accomplishment because I took care of her for over 14 years, which is longer than any marriage I’ve had! All of these lovely little beings add so much joy to my home and life and they all have one thing in common…they didn’t have a home and a person to love, which is their main purpose. I urge you to at least consider adoption before purchasing a pet.

SIX SHOTS: January 2016

Johnny Was Highland Village, Houston stylist, Stephanie Sjoberg, Miranda Ruiz, Sierra Seja, Houston, Highland Village1.  JOHNNY  GIRLS

My new position with Johnny Was in Houston is what dominated my January.  We have a lot of new stylists, and there’s been a lot of change and learning but I have to say that we have our moments of fun! We’ve all totally fallen in love with the different lines that Johnny Was has to offer. We have all turned into “scarf people” somehow and the minute you acquire a new one, you end up finding another silk scarf to covet and desire. January was all about Johnny Was Clothing and my Johnny girls! If you’re in Highland Village, stop in as see us!

I am all about this Koi top/dress / cover up from Johnny Was, so even though it’s winter, I’d wanted to find a way to winterize and wear it now!

3.  GLAMMY BEAUTY ROOM

I totally have needed an escape pod.  My husband is a chatty Kathy so it’s been very hard to concentrate with my computer in the middle of the house for a few years.  There can be a phone to my ear but somehow words just keep coming out of his mouth.  I decided I could be married longer if I have my own oasis of peace, silence and beauty!  I’m almost finished and will of course be doing a post or video in the future from my special hiding place. My headquarters.

4.  SWEET SENSATIONS

I was referred to this Houston sugar waxing spa, through a crazy conversation with friends about Brazilian waxes, hair styles and sex. I decided to give this place a shot and was totally impressed!  Zhila makes you feel as comfortable as possible with having to strip down to nothing and be touched and probed. She doesn’t use typical wax. Her concoction is sugar based, hence the name…Sweet Sensations. She offers other services as well, so if you’re in the Houston area, check it out!

5.  JOHNNY WAS

I wasn’t able to pump out tons of fashion posts this month, but I love this shot from a Johnny Was post!  The scarf thing is becoming an addiction. The dress is hard to shoot due to the lines but we tried!  This is one of those dresses that people stop and ask about where ever I go.

6.  HOUSTON on INSTAGRAM

Houston is getting crowded. When it rains, everyone’s driving is not stellar.  I am trying to relax and enjoy my commute, but on this day, I’d been at a complete standstill, so was able to stop and admire the beauty of Houston proper. Of course I had to Instagram it. A 29 mile drive turned into a 2 hour commute home. Ugh.

1. REBEL

I absolutely loved finding a dress for $9 from Forever 21.  I feel like…well I am a rebel. This shot is from a quick post called REBEL that I did to style my new $9.00 dress from Forever 21.  I like to wear what I want, do what I want and not be told what to do.  I think it’s cool to save a lot of money on a dress to compensate for the occasional nice shoe or handbag, or vacation.   And then of course, there is the four tiered pony tail combo that my friends all laugh about. I do me.

2.  FATHER’S DAY TEXT

I worked on Father’s Day so I didn’t have time to go to Dallas to visit my Dad that weekend.  I did, however, send him a quick text. I am impressed that my dad knows how to choose and use emoticons, and yes, he will kill me if he sees this post.  I actually shared a screenshot of this on my Instagram account, but of course my family doesn’t read my blog or look at my Instagram and do not even understand that I rep products and companies, I’m sure they assume I am just a narcissist.  I would like to add, that no…none of us believe in abortion, especially my dad.  My mom and dad got pregnant with my brother before getting married, and then about 5 weeks after he was born, they got pregnant with me. I guess it took a while to figure out where babies come from. Either way, that was the pretext for the funny text I sent about not aborting me!

3.  HUGH’S LANDING, THE WOODLANDS

There is a fabulous new area of The Woodland’s called Hughes Landing.  I’ve been hanging out there a lot lately because they have fabulous new apartments, and I’ve had some clients interested in renting. There have also been a few great restaurants opening up there, and the blog post for Hugh’s Landing is coming up!  I took this shot on a Monday night before a huge storm came through.  My friends love to go to Del Frisco’s Grille and if you were in the market for romance, the views are conducive to such matters. Actually, if I wanted another husband, I might be able to pluck one from there, Just sayin. The food isn’t bad either! There’s also other great places, which will all be listed on the next post!

4.  BIKINI POLITICS

The quickie post we decided to do from The Golden Nugget Hotel in Lake Charles, was derived from the realization that some people just love to strip down and get naked at pool time in front of strangers.  I…do…not.  I sort of feel that you need to know me, love me and pay my bills to earn the right to judge my nakedness.  So I survived pool day, and you can check the Bikini Politics blog here.

5.  IT’S EXPENSIVE TO BE ME

“It’s expensive to be me,” was a reply by Anna Nicole Smith in court trying to fight for her money from her dead “husband” and justify her expensive costs of living.  I laughed and it stuck with me.  Being a rebel, when we were told at work to do whatever you want, but please do not chew gum…it made me want to chew gum daily.  I developed a fetish for those little hard Mexican gum bits.  As I was driving down the road, close to 4pm, I bit down the wrong way, and cracked a crown…which took the tooth with it.  Ugh.  My bad.  I had taken this picture to send to friends because we had plans to go out that night and I was not going!  I could not get to the dentist that night, glued the crown/tooth back in until the next day…but could not eat dinner with them, but of course, I had drinks.  I literally remember nothing from that night. Chewing hard little banana flavored gum like a crack addict ended up costing me a lot of money.  I have been to the dentist about 5 times this past month and I wanted to keep it real, and show that everything is not perfect in my world.  I’ve got problems and challenges here and there, I just don’t blast them across the internet. This really sucked.

6.  DAVID YURMAN COUTURE

I’ve had this lavender amethyst David Yurman Couture Collection ring for about 6 years.  I saw it in the window at their Houston Galleria location, and fell in love.  The past few years, I didn’t wear it much because I was scared of shattering the edge of the stone, because it is a delicate design.  I kept meeting ladies with beautiful Yurman pieces on, and was constantly told about the quality assurance policy from the Yurman company, so I took it out of my safety deposit box, wore it for a week….and of course, looked down, and realized the stone was chipped.  I took it to the Yurman Galleria store it was purchased from…not really knowing what they would or could do.  In my particular case, they replaced the stone. I was so excited to get this ring back after being gone for 4 months, but 4 months was nothing to wait for a complete repair.  I am emotionally attached to this bauble (which is so wrong, yes…I know) and I have new respect for the David Yurman company.

I just spent two hours at Legacy Prep School in The Woodlands with KS Tennis since it was the last day of the season. Kids are adorable but have ZERO filter, so these are the questions I was asked;
Kids: Are you rich?
Me: No.
Kids: Are you sure? You look rich.
Me: Pretty sure. I am wearing Chanel lipstick in “Arthur”…so I guess I look rich.
Kids: Do you have kids?
Me: No.
Kids: Why not?
Me: Because Coach Ken is too old.
Kids: But he’s really good with small kids!
Me: Well then if someone leaves one on our doorstep, I guess we’ll keep it .
……..so then these kids start explaining how to foster babies and sometimes you get to keep them! I’m good…I promise!
