SIX SHOTS: SEPTEMBER 2013

SIX SHOTS

September, two thousand and thirteen

Stephanie Sjoberg, Houston bloggers, fashion blog, makeup artist, Luxor Living and Style

1. BA STAR

The make up artist in me loves trying out new products, whether it’s one I purchase and test, or if a company sends me their products to try out and review.  This shot was taken for the BA STAR eye shadow review.  Again I say… I am just a random, imperfect person in the cold, cruel world. Flawed. Un-thin. Not terribly young.  So, to take a nice picture which highlights the product as opposed to the person, is an achievement!  (I love getting samples and doing reviews!)

2.  Jazzy Purse

Showcasing my heart, my Jazzy.  It’s getting cool enough outside to start letting her tag along places, in her Jazzy purse, so she was with us for the Jazzy, MAC and Stripes blog post. The joy it brings her heart when you get the bag out of the closet and she first bum rushes you to try and hurry to jump in before she gets left behind…that’s what makes me happy.

While it does freak her out a little bit to be showcased on the Internet, she is supportive of the blog, and willing to contribute her image, but of course, there will have to be arrangements on extra treats.

3.  Bird Sanctuary

My husband shares my love for all of God’s little birds, so we make efforts to create a tiny sanctuary for whatever bird creatures show up.  There’s always water in the bird bath, bird houses ready for occupancy, and food.

When I noticed a new bird’s next in our tree close to the bird bath, I climbed up on a ladder to inspect and see if there were eggs in it.  I felt terrible, like I was invading a personal space.  There were no eggs. I didn’t disturb it, I adored the construction and architecture briefly before climbing down.

How one soul under the sun, is able to hear the birds sing, and not know immediately that there is a God and this is his world and his word is true…is beyond my comprehension.  I’ve noticed that when the birds start chirping early in the morning, it makes the morning and the thought of facing another day…more tolerable.

4. Vines

As much as we go to Old Town Spring, I find it shocking that we keep finding new garden spots and various nooks and crannies to photograph at.  I was especially excited about this spot, since I am doing photography and make up for a girl next week, and this spot would be a perfect backdrop.

5. Viva La Juicy Noir Giveaway

I wanted to include this cool shot of the Viva La Juicy Noir  giveaway!  Click the link if you want to enter to win the 3.4 bottle, or read this post to check out my review of the scent!

For a blog, I feel it’s appropriate to use 95% all your original art, or else what are you really doing, but rehashing and regurgitating other people’s work?   The top blogs, are the ones that create their own sphere.

6. Pink & Black

This website is partially fashion based, after many years in the business of retail marketing and sales. It’s who  am.

We were on our way to a special lunch together, and this is me, in my tiny world. For me, the blog posts are something we do together and plan. The funny thing, is that sometimes I can tell that he hates doing it on some days, but he does it anyway and pretends he likes it. This makes me a better person though, because when he wants me to do something for him or with him, I have days like this to refer to. We are here to help each other through life, be supportive and be friends or what purpose do you serve? Just my two cents.

TEXAS GLAM-ESTATE HOT-PICKS (vol 3)

(vol 3)
Texas Top Real Estate Listings, decor, Luxor by Stephanie Dawn Sjoberg, Luxor Leasing and Real Estate, Luxor Living and Style Blog, Texas blog
Goodness.  It took me longer than I’d hoped to find a Texas home to add to the Luxor Glam-Estate list.  Then, I happened across this Georgian style home in my area of town…The Woodlands, Texas.

I’d looked at some homes that were much more expensive than this one, which is listed at $4,750,000… however, just because they cost more, does not mean the decor is one I would feature.

In some extremely large homes, the furnishings match each other perfectly from one room to the next, and sometimes the personality gets lost.

This one has the black and white checkered marble look that I absolutely adore.

Each room flows easily to the other, yet carries itself independent of the other.

If you’ve never been to the area, you can check out this previous post. The Woodlands is also about 3 miles from Old Town Spring, which is where we do most of our blog post photos from.

     This wine room is amazing!

The master suite is a bit to sterile for my taste, I prefer a bit more drama, but I do love that it flows into the most fabulous bathroom, which is probably where the party is!

     Amazingly romantic architecture and space.

Very glam! Keeping it simple with fabulous white marble flooring.

I love the cozy movie room.  I like that the sofas enable people to sit together rather than each person alone in their own recliner. I’m all about the intimacy. Well, and the animal print.  Look at the fabulous carpet!

There is so much more to the Georgian style home, including fabulous landscaping and pool area, but I always love to show what I call…the money room.

The money room is the home office area, in which I envision that someone must surely sit at least a few hours a day, wheeling and dealing and running the calculator, checking on investments, cutting checks and planning the next trip to Aspen.

Most people say that the kitchen is the heart of the home, but hell, I say it’s the Money Room.  It’s the engine that fuels the machine and keeps the lights on.

BASIC DAY CASUAL

Fall is coming in slowly. Mornings are cool and gooey lately so forget about a good hair day.  While I dressed to run a multitude of errands, the heat has forced me to become more casual than I’d prefer.

My bag is large, but I need my things! I also notice that while friends often ask why I use such large bags, they are usually the same people who ask to borrow things from my survival bag.  I have enough electronics in there at any given time, that I could run the Pentagon from any Hotspot if needed.

The blazer and cold shoulder, long tailed top are new from Forever 21. The shoes are Jessica Simpson, and they are suede, which tells me that they are fall appropriate.

bag Michael Kors, watch Movado, bracelet Tiffany & Co, ring David Yurman jacket and top Forever 21 , shoes Jessica Simpson

On this morning, we chose to meet for a Mexican breakfast at a local dive we go to often, and then we parted ways to run the rest of our day.

There are exciting things going on, fall will get here eventually, pumpkin spice lattes are back at Starbucks. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas will come soon enough. Embrace the time you have, it’s your number one most valuable commodity.

MOVIE NIGHTS: MY WEEK WITH MARILYN

Friends always ask me where we go and what we do at night and are not excited by my answer. It’s what we appropriately  call “Movie Night.”  This is when one or the other picks out a movie to rent at home, we have a show time that our movie will start, gather the babies on the sofa in a blanket with all the lights off and scented candles burning and enjoy an hour and a half of escapism and relaxation together at home(…and of course there must be snacks!) Movie nights at home are an “event” for us.

When friends ask us how we stay home so many nights and why we don’t go out more often the answer is always the same…”going out is like taking sand to the beach!”  I have what I want at home.  We love being home and we love our planned movie nights.  I plan on blogging about the movies we come across that are worth seeing every Friday morning in case if you missed it at the theater!

I had never planned on seeing this film…at the theater or from my sofa.   Marilyn is often portrayed as simple and one faceted.  I didn’t have time for yet another thing Marilyn, yet in the door he walks with our movie for the night…and he thought I’d be happy with “My Week With Marilyn” which had come out earlier this year.

I pretended to be content with his movie selection, and after dinner we gathered with the babies on the sofa and began the film.

I totally was not expecting a wonderful movie, but it touched our hearts, it had lovely scenery and Michelle Williams acting and appearance was stunning. She was awarded a Golden Globe for Best Actress  for this film.

Usually, whenever anyone is trying to portray Marilyn, a lot of red lipstick is used, as a lot of obvious eye contour as well, however in this film, the makeup artistry was amazingly natural looking.

We walked away from the film feeling we understood Marilyn Monroe a lot better than before, and were extremely impressed with Michelle Williams as well as the entire cast.  This movie will stay with you.

    This is a MUST-RENT !!

TEXAS GLAM-ESTATE (vol 2)

Sharing My Top HOT Picks for the Most Amazing Real Estate in Texas
Luxor Leasing and Real Estate, Top Texas Homes, Decor Ideas, Luxor Living and Style Bloggazine
Helping people find homes, even if it’s merely an Apartment Rental in Texas, is rewarding.  I love architecture and helping people…but really I realize how important it is to a person to have a good nest.

If it’s a college student looking for cheaper housing and who has a focus need of being close to school, or an executive who is looking for a high end lease while he scopes out the possibility offoreverness with a new, high end job…it’s all rewarding.

That being said, oh my gosh it would be fabulous to sell a top Texas glam home!  In the meantime, I sometimes come across some that are available that I really admire.

This is another fabulous home for sale outside of Dallas, and it’s listed for just under $2.5 million. While it’s a wee bit more than my personal budget ( like by $2.3 million) It is an amazing home that I wanted to share with you due to the outstanding architectural detail, whimsical old world style and accessories.

The thing I love about this home, is that the theme is continual throughout the home.  I loathe it when there is no continuity. It makes a home feel broken up into boxes. No matter what the size of the home, a good flow is imperative.  Actually, the smaller it is, the larger it will appear if there is some flow!

If I were buying it, I would love to include some of the furnishings such as shown in the formal dining.  The curtains are all so customized, and they blend so well with the fabric on the chairs.

The media room is a fun touch, and I would actually use this often, because we rent movies so often. ( I just have not done a movie review for the MOVIE NIGHT category of the site in a few weeks because we have had a terrible patch or downright awful movies I would never promote!)

This home also features a fabulous office area with a winding staircase that leads up to a balcony with books shelves, that looks down into the office, which is equipped with a cozy fireplace.

This is a very glammy nest, equipped with all the extras!

When I see wonderful homes like this, I often wonder about the people…why are they moving, how can they stand to move out and really…who could I possibly sell a home like this to?
Texas Realtor, Stephanie Dawn Sjoberg, Luxor Leasing and Real Estate,LLC, Luxor Living and Style Blog
This home has a fabulous pool area, privacy and a lot of covered porch area, and would sell for three or more times this price in other markets.

I think I may continue sharing these types of real estate listings with the blog readers because you can get a lot of top notch decor ideas and motivations from some of these properties! ( Not only that, but maybe someone in the United Kingdom or France actually needsa million dollar vacation spot in Texas!) I’d be glad to help!
