GUEST BEDROOM RE-VAMP

Forcing myself to get this bedroom painted was very, very hard.    I do not love the furniture in this room, therefore I do not love the room.  (There is another set of furniture that I want moved to this room which is better, prettier, more wonderful…but someone has an emotional attachment to the not so wonderful set, so here it sits. For now.

Finally realizing that I was only hurting myself by allowing the abandoned bedroom to sit, with unpainted walls and no care…I broke down and gave it a little love.

I’ve got to show the before picture. Although I tried to fill it up and hang something here or there, it just really was still a heartless box.

For the spare room, I finally decided on the same color, Molasses, which I used in the home office which is just down the hall.  I figured this made for some continuity. (See Home Office Re-Vamp Post.)

I added a couple of animal print hat boxes that I’d already had to store items in my closet, and the molasses wall paint really seemed to add a wonderful backdrop to showcase the various items and artwork I’d already had on display.

Most everything means something.   My love of birds, I suppose was inherited from my mom, and most bird things here had been hers.  Porcelain birds are very “old lady” of that I am aware, but I love them!

The tiny porcelain bell was a gift from my mom when I was about 10 years old.  I figured that since it was technically a guest room…it might be a nice touch! A service bell…get it?

I had a spare curtain, so decided to make headboard canopy out of it for fun.

This chair is extremely comfortable and I’d been deciding on what to reupholster him with, but now he blends so much better!

The animal print stool was a gift from a friend last Christmas and I thought a fun touch!

The dresser is littered with more porcelain birds, pictures, a box of photo albums and a heavy iron cross that I have not yet decided where it will go.

I probably will add a shelf somewhere in the future to put these birds on.

So this was my quick spare bedroom re-vamp which I feel connects the room to the rest of the house and helps the flow!

Up next, the star attraction…the Master Bedroom Re-Vamp !  It’s never been upgraded because I forced myself to save that for last after completing the rest.  We decided on a color scheme last night so hopefully it will be completed by the end of December if not sooner, which was my initial goal!

Let me know what you think or send in your re-vamps!

TWELVE SHOTS FROM MAUI

Maui was the most amazing place to me.  It seems eerily close to the descriptions of Heaven that people who have “died” and then been brought back to life, describe.

Beaches are wonderful and all, especially the amazing Black Beach, shown above, which was on the road to Hana.  For me, however, it was the rain forests and surrounding areas of Hana that took my breath away.

This very narrow one lane bridge on the road to Hana was just beautiful to me. It was the lush  and colorful foliage that was most amazing.  It struck me to the core, that this is what heaven will be, and probably what the earth now, was meant to be.  When you think about the nutritional value of our fruits and vegetables declining, I assume they are not studying the samples from here.  The colors of the plant life here is so bold and intense, a sure indicator of the unspoiled ground.

The colors on this thick, beautiful tree bark were astounding.

The stories of Heaven you continually hear, is that Heaven is the same as Earth, except the colors are better, more vibrant. This surely must be what is meant.

l    This shot was of the Oheo Pools which is a beautiful place to park and swim.

Charles Lindbergh had a farm and was buried here and it’s now a Memorial. it was peaceful and serene, and basically is on a cliff overlooking the ocean.

Out of the 600 pictures that we took, I’d decided on the 12 best that showed the true wonder of this magical place.  It is sometimes so hard to capture true beauty with a flat snapshot.  If you do go to Maui, you must take a tour to Hana.

While Hana was amazing, there were other great areas as well.

This picture was taken from our table on the deck of a restaurant while having lunch in LaHaina.

Another day trip we took together, was the drive up to the Haleakala National Park.

It was great to be able to stop and take our time as we drove through the rural mountain side.  The temperature changed drastically from the bottom, which was around 83 degrees, to the top, which was about 50 degrees with the wind blowing like crazy, which made it feel like 35.

As we made our way through the clouds, we eventually arrived at our final destination – over the clouds and on top of the mountain.

That is my Maui.  It was the most wonderful time I’ve ever had, and a wonderful opportunity to see beautiful land at it’s finest, un-tampered with state.

CLASSIC LEVI’S DAY

levi1 levi1bw levi shoot 003 levi shoot 068levihug
Today was a classic Levi’s kind of a day.  Today consisted of running errands together which included a quick meeting for business at a local Starbucks (any visit to a Starbucks by this man is completely rare…he does not require caffeine to operate as the rest of us do) then there were more errands followed by a quick lunch.

One of my day’s challenges was getting him to stop long enough today to take a few shots for this Levi’s blog post!

We actually laughed so hard and it was really fun when we stopped to snap pictures at a place I used to consider to be my own personal hidden swampy place.  However, when we got to my super secret swampy place, we found that it wasn’t a secret anymore. Tables, benches, an asphalt trail and bridge had been added, so it’s not a secret anymore! It is still an extremely secluded spot in the middle of our town.
I guess I feel strongly about the Levi Strauss & Company products because I feel that now more than ever, we need to support our American companies and jobs.  If you don’t support America, who will ?

Levi Strauss is a worldwide company that’s been around since 1853 and its headquarters is in San Francisco, California.  Levi jeans are a classic…forever, sort of like animal print. Levi’s are for every age.

It would not matter if I were wearing a $300 pair of jeans…my body is still my body, any pair of jeans isn’t going to magically transform me into a supermodel.
He has on a black tuxedo styled shirt by Guess and his favorite Levi’s Authentic cut. (Skinny jeans on a guy freak me out!) My black short waist blazer is from Guess as well.

Join in the fun and send in any hot shots you may have in your Levi’s!  I would love to post!
