MOVIE NIGHTS: He’s Just Not That Into You

I totally love anything jacquard and ornate, but animal print is on my heart! Therefore, no matter how much I try to change, a tiny bit of animal print still sneaks back into my life!
Traditionally, every Thanksgiving night, I love to be home and gather my Christmas decorations and have it all up that night.
That being said, when I went to buy ribbon to decorate my new Christmas tree, of course it took me all of 10 seconds to fall in love and decide on a pretty animal print ribbon!
I also purchased a small gold tree for $18 from the dollar store and it was pre lit as well, so I put that one in the home office, and yes, with animal print ribbons as well! It sits on a table and can be seen out the front window so that is sort of my easy way of decorating the outside of the house!
Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my fun animal print Christmas tree and I would love for you to email me and share pictures of your Christmas ideas (sds@luxorlivingandstyle.com) or share your comments and ideas below!

My brother and I met for lunch today, and also went to pick up a coconut cake for the Thanksgiving Holiday Dinner I am planning.
It was a great day to snap a few pictures because I got to use my new Michael Kors handbag today which was an early birthday gift!
The watch is Michael Kors as well. I wear it all the time and love it. The black patent platforms are by Jessica Simpson and are comfortable for hours!
I love the color of the Michael Kors bag, it is called “persimmon” and is a natural orange tone that seems to blend with a lot.
I love to buy random new pieces that can flush in with things you already own. News flash… everything you wear every day can’t be brand new! To me, the idea is to build and grow your wardrobe without going broke.
Sidebar: I never ever watched Sex in the City but the one time or so it happened to be on before I could change the channel, I thought it was ridiculous that Carrie was buying $400 shoes but then worried about her rent getting paid or money to go to dinner! Ugh! In your 20’s I suppose, but her character was clearly in her 40’s!
So my love affair with Kors handbags continues! One in every style and color would be fabulous, however my new persimmon Hamilton will do!

Thanksgiving is around the corner and that means Christmas is on it’s way so you better hurry up and decide on your holiday card ideas!
As a society, we have buried ourselves with responsibilities, and we do not have as much time for friends and family as we once did. Because of that, I feel it’s important to still communicate your thoughts of one another so that people know you do care!
Recently, I was getting the mail of an older lady who was out of town last holiday season, and I was shocked at how many Christmas cards she received daily! It was old school class and charm. We actually only received about four and one was from the Chiropractor and another from a Dentist!
Every year, I usually make my own. On Thanksgiving night, I usually allot time to put up my Christmas tree and other decorations. To me, that is also the perfect time to take 20 minutes to snap some photos appropriate for a family Christmas Card.
Last year, the card above was the shot I chose, but I applied a sort of “Toon” app to the photo which turned us into cartoons, which is actually fitting! (Because we are funny like that.)
I simply uploaded the picture to photoshop.com and then chose “edit.” From there, you simply click the “Sketch” button on the left…and it gives you a few options to choose from.
If you do not have the photoshop.com available, some cell phone photo programs or cameras have the same option. Chances are, some one you know has this and can do it for you within a few minutes.
Next, you just choose whatever verbiage you wish your card to say…and you could do this with either Photoshop or even a simple Paint program.
Then, after your finished product is downloaded to a disk, you simply go down to a place like Walgreen’s or Costco, that usually has a photo printing machine with apps for greeting cards. (Or just print from home on card stock.) You can choose from whatever selections you want there, and they can print your cards within an hour!
On my cards, I already had the lettering added on Photoshop, so all I had to do was have them print the photo postcards for me for about $10, and I was done!
I’ve even made Jazzy pose in a Santa suit before for my Christmas cards. You don’t have to cheese your own grill in your photos! If there is a great winter shot you took and were proud of, or maybe a really old Christmas photo, you could reproduce, that would be great as well!
The point is to have fun and connect, and more inportantly, make someone feel special that you went old school and thought enough of them to use a stamp! Just sayin.
This is just a fun activity to keep in mind as Thanksgiving approaches!

I am totally traditional, however, there is a rebel inside. That being said, I have not prepared a typical turkey dinner for Thanksgiving in years.
I always make my famous turkey chili recipe instead! It began years ago, because my family is tiny and did not particularly want traditional turkey dinner. (And by “My” recipe, I mean I totally stole it from my step-mother!) It stores easy so it’s super handy to have around during the long holiday weekend for random snacks! it’s also still technically “turkey” so there is a hint of tradition. No one has ever complained about a big huge pot of turkey chili yet!
This is what you will need:
3lbs ground turkey
1 15 oz can pinto beans (I use Trappy’s Jalapinto)
2 15 oz cans Dark Red Kidney Beans
3 10 oz cans Diced Tomatoes & Green Chillies
2 white onions
2 green bell peppers
1 lb (16 oz) Dark Brown Sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
2 oz chili powder
—————————————————————————-
for toppings:
one chopped white onions
shredded cheddar cheese
fritos
chopped green onion
I always take a photo of the ingredients due to an overwhelming number of friends explaining to me that they do not like to read and just like pictures. They can look at the photo as they run through the store, on their phone and won’t have to bother with the burden of reading!
To begin, on medium low heat, brown turkey in a skillet with salt and 1 oz chili powder until done. This should take about 25 minutes. Continue to stir on occasion. Turkey meat is dry, so there will be no oil as it cooks as with beef so it needs to be stirred here or there to cook evenly.
In the meantime, pour all cans of beans, tomatoes, chopped onions and bell peppers into either a crock pot or other large pot, and keep on medium heat.
Once the turkey is done, pour it into the crock pot, then add the brown sugar, cayenne pepper and the other ounce of chili powder. (The first ounce went into the turkey as it cooked)
Cover, and turn heat down to low.
I let mine stay on low overnight in the crock pot and it was amazing the next day. I have also done it in a pot on the stove, and kept on low for two hours and it was fine as well, but the slow cooking crock pot works magic! The cayenne and the brown sugar really break down and blend creating the perfect mixture of heat and sweet.
These are the garnishes I have available for whoever wants them, and usually serve with fresh cut green onions on top, whether anyone wants them or not…they are pretty and therefore mandatory!
I serve a lot of other treats and dishes as well…but the turkey chili is the star for our casual Thanksgiving at home!
